It’s been okay for me so far. I have been assured by several people that my job is not on the line. But my friends, and people I’ve worked with for years, are quitting, thinking of quitting, or being fired. It changes the whole dynamic of the company. Especially for me.

Sorry if I was kind of emphatic. I’ve had a particularly bad bout of sinusitis this last week and couldn’t sleep last night, so I drafted this post. That may have influenced my tone. But still I do find Jack’s insult completely uncalled-for.

Wow! To try and defend Jack at this point would be my own “Charge of the Light Brigade”. Has anyone told you, You would make a good lawyer”? Smile.
Actually it has been two or three years since I last read a Repaiman Jack book. I will now have to get caught up on Jack and his “adventures”.
Anyway, I do enjoy reading your “Blogs”. Keep it up.

Maybe Jack is a little afraid of his ability to defeat the “Black Wind” and believes he could win many smaller battles against evil in the future and that it would better serve “mankind” in that way. He just needed something to prod him off his logical thinking. Smile. He who runs away lives to fight another day….. No “Charge of The Light Brigade” for Jack.

They’re not required to -buy- insurance with out-of-pocket funds, as I understand it — that’s what subsidies are for — but they are required to -have- insurance. That means they have to be organized and plugged into society well enough to find an insurer, get the forms, fill them out and submit them correctly, and receive and retain their proof of insurance.

Not that I really expect the Feds to throw homeless mental patients in prison, of course. Their goal is merely power, and power over helpless people like that doesn’t give them the same rush as grinding a bootheel in the face of a small businessman or a retired widow who foolishly invested in secured bonds issued by GM.

No, that was not a serious suggestion merely an extreme position of no particular value.

FWIW, I believe that people with insufficient income are not required to buy insurance (I heard $30,000 annually for a family of 4). And that the fine for not buying insurance (which will be collected by the IRS, apparently without any kind of citation or court appearance – but I could be wrong on that) will be low enough that some people may choose to opt out until actually sick.
